About Jo Maree Millinery – Jo Peterson
Jo is an emerging designer of multi award winning classic millinery based down on Melbourne’s beautiful Mornington Peninsula.
As a keen race goer and racehorse owner, Jo developed her passion for all things millinery at the Melbourne Fashion Institute and from there she continued studying and gained her Certificate II & III at Kangan Institute. She plans to return to complete Certificate IV in 2018. Under the watchful eye of renowned Milliners such as Louise Macdonald, Lynette Lim, Rebecca Share and Serena Lindeman, she often undertakens workshops and short courses to refine specific techniques and is looking forward to attending the international millinery forum ‘Hats off to Adelaide’ later this year.
Jo has a love of vintage fabrics, lace, pearls and beads and enjoys mixing them up with modern materials to create headpieces with a unique flair. Under her label, Jo Maree Millinery, her headpieces have gained recognition at local race days and at industry events including ‘Best Millinery Exhibit’ at Royal Melbourne Show 2016, Oaks Day Millinery Award ‘Top 20’ National Finalist 2015 and the Millinery Association of Australia ‘Best Hat’ Student Encouragement Award 2015.
